This 2 bedroom cottage has gained four star rating from Scottish Tourist Board. It is situated within the walled garden area of our grounds, facing south/west and looking over to the pond area. Orchard Cottage has been designed to accommodate comfortably assisted disabled visitors as well as able bodied. We have a twin bedded room and full bathroom with separate shower on the ground floor, the bathroom is large to enable ease of movement, we can also supply personal aids to help with mobility, please ask for details should you require these. All downstairs floors are hard natural flooring with rugs which can be removed if necessary, we also have a high seated chair for the less able.
We have recently added a Garden Room extension which has a vaulted ceiling and floors in solid oak. This has a slated roof and is fully heated for all year round use giving lots of extra living space, ideal for entertaining family or friends. The Lounge has a coal fire for cosy evenings and a galleried area to the upstairs hall. There is a large Dining Kitchen with dishwasher and a separate Utility Room with washer and dryer, ideal for pets, there is also an enclosed back garden , decking and ample parking to the front.
Upstairs is a galleried hallway, double bedroom and en-suite shower room, making this cottage ideal for 2 couples or a family. We also supply free of charge a cot, high chair and folding bed if required.
The cottage has full gas central heating, all costs of power, heating, linen and towels are included in our rates, as are a bucket of coal and all logs you may require for the fire. We are pet friendly and we like to think we can accommodate pets of any kind, by prior arrangement. We do advise common sense rules to pets on arrival.
Orchard Cottage has satellite TV with several movie channels as well as DVD and CD players and discs. We also have a collection of books and games. We supply ample crockery and utensils for entertaining.
Both cottages have private and enclosed back gardens offering security for children and pets alike, neither overlooked at the front, affording excellent privacy. We supply outdoor seating and barbeques. Many visitors enjoy the geese and ducks and on a pleasant day make use of the seat at the pond and simply relax. There is ample rough ground for walking dogs and a walk down the side of the town lade as well as by the Almond River which is close by.
Although we are only 2 miles from Perth City we are in a rural location away from hustle and bustle. Many visitors to our cottages like to enjoy quiet days 'at home' as well as others touring, our cottages are well suited to both of these, being fully equipped to offer a home from home with satellite TV, DVD's, CD's and many books to suit all tastes. Reading previous guest's comments in our Visitors Books is quite a pleasant way to spend some time.
Perth is a thriving and beautiful city, situated in the very heart of Scotland; all major Scottish cities are within a 2 hour drive and easily within daily visiting range. There is much to see and do in the local area, Perth is famed for its gardens and floral displays in season, with abundant golf courses close by, Gleneagles around 20 minutes and St Andrews well within an hours drive. Fishing on the famous River Tay and in many other local locations, we are convenient for Skiing and Shooting during winter and many summer attractions including Highland Games and Agricultural Shows. We have Horse Racing at Scone Palace from April until September and also the famous Game Fair held annually.
Cottages are open all year round and short breaks are taken from November until March, we normally book Saturday to Saturday in summer but can be flexible, should you have a special requirement just ask.
