Birkhow is the perfect starting place for setting out to explore the Lake District's fells and countryside ... and an even better place to come back to after being out all day. The cottage is beautiful throughout and has one double room and two twins. The kitchen is fully equipped and the sitting room is large and light with a cosy open fire for those winter evenings
Eskdale's village shop is just five minutes walk away and there are two pubs 15 minutes walk from the door. Pets are welcome.
Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house!
