Anna's Cottage is a traditional dales cottage built in local stone and situated in a peaceful part of the village where just a few yards walk will open up the rich vista of Wensleydale and beyond.
Although the cottage is an integral part of the main house, it is self-contained and has it's own access. The accomodation consists of a cosy lounge, with dining area and a small fully fitted kitchen. The lounge has a marble, tiled Victorian fireplace. From the lounge, a pine stairway leads to a double bedroom with an en-suite showeroom with washbasin and wc. Anna's cottage has many of the original features and has been furnished to a high standard.
The village grew around the once rich lead mines whose remains and ruins are still evident in the landscape. The houses too reflect the mining history as well as agricultural roots with quaint stone terraces and cottage gardens nestling to form a tranquil haven on the hillside .
The elevated position gives stunning views over Bishopdale, Wensleydale and out towards the Vale of York. Many footpaths centre on the village so there is plenty of opportunity for walking and also within walking distance, on the same escarpment, is the stately Bolton Castle where Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1568.
