Come and get away from the usual pace of life on Islay. World renowned for it's whisky (there are 8 distilleries!) and it's wildlife there is something for everyone. Explore Islay, known as "The Queen of the Hebrides", Jura (with yet another distillery!) and in the summer months the tiny island of Colonsay. See deer, otters, birds of prey, and right now upto 50,000 overwintering geese.
A recently renovated former Victorian school,The Old Schoolroom offers luxurious accommodation for four people, it has a four star rating from the Scottish Tourist Board. The Old Schoolroom is set in its own private garden and is well placed for exploring Islay, Jura and Colonsay
Accommodation comprises of: the double bedroom, with views down the glen to the burn (the river Sorn) and the twin bedroom which overlooks the garden. The lounge/diner is comfortably furnished with ample seating and a table and chairs, the peat burning stove is perfect for roasting the toes after a hard days relaxing. The kitchen is modern and well equipped to include fridge, cooker, washer/dryer and microwave, views are down the glen (watch buzzards whilst making diner!) The bathroom is light and airy and has a bath and shower. There is stripwood laminate flooring throughout and underfloor heating. All windows are copies of the originals and are double glazed.
There is a welcome pack of baking, bread, our own eggs and seasonal veggies, local milk and scottish butter on arrival. All linen and towels are provided. Electricity and a basket of peat (or bag of charcoal-weather dependant!) are included in the price. There is a phone. We are family friendly and allergy aware, due to our location in open farmland we do not cater for dogs.
