Originally a farming hamlet, Kermavio now only has one operational arable farm. The other five properties are no longer directly connected with agriculture and are privately owned. The dwellings are clustered together and fields radiate away from them. Kermavio is almost completely surrounded by trees although a break in them allows the stunning views across open fields to distant villages and tree-clad hills beyond to be seen from our gardens.
Entry to the single storey Shippern is through triple French windows which lead directly into the light, airy living/dining room with its high beamed ceiling.
The dining table can easily seat six and has, therefore, plenty of room for wine bottles! Three-seater sofa beds add flexibility to the accommodation. A selection of books for both adults and children are provided as are games and a CD player.
Your holiday includes respite from the dreaded box – there is no television! A central hallway leads from the living room to the comfortable double, twin and single bedrooms and to the shower room, all of which have high beamed ceilings as well.
The kitchen, which is part of, yet separate from, the living/dining room, is well equipped and has a full size gas cooker with hood, ‘fridge, microwave and coffee-maker (and a kettle!!). Lighting is arranged above the tiled work surfaces and double bowl sink to avoid working in your own shadow. A washing machine for your exclusive use is in the Laundry Room, which is in the big barn. Outside is a patio area equipped with garden furniture and a small area of lawn and you are invited to make use of all our gardens.
Skirting around Cléguérec and eventually coming up past our door is Grande Randonnée (GR) 37. This is one of the long distance footpaths that criss-cross France. It, like all pathways, long, short or circular, is very well marked.
Walkers and cyclists of all levels of experience (and commitment) will enjoy exploring the myriad of routes available and discovering the confetti of megaliths, menhirs and “Allées couvertes”.
