La Platriere is a newly converted farmhouse offering peaceful holidays and short breaks in the heart of France. The property consists of a large house, and adjoining cottage. It is set within just under 3 acres, in a delightful, secluded position at the end of a driveway, within the rural countryside of the Auvergne region in France. The property also has a large outdoor swimming pool, which all guests are welcome to enjoy.
The cottage offers spacious accommodation and sleeps up to 6 people. It has its own enclosed private garden and private parking space.The kitchen with dining area is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, electric oven, hob and extractor hood. The dining area has French doors leading out into the private garden and outdoor furniture and barbeque. There are also 2 sitting rooms, equipped with your comfort in mind, with TV, music centre, video, board games and books. One of the sitting rooms has a good quality bed-settee so it can easily be converted into a 3rd bedroom if needed. A beautiful oak open-tread staircase leads up to two adjoining bedrooms. One has a double bed the other twin-beds. Both bedrooms have exposed oak beams, wooden flooring, and dormer windows which look out across the gardens to the countryside beyond. The bathroom and separate toilet are downstairs, the bathroom has a french bath, vanity unit with washbasin, and shower.
La Platriere is situated in the department of Allier in the region of Auvergne, in the heart of France. With a wealth of unique landscapes, rich history and cultural heritage, Auvergne offers something for everyone. The region boasts of an exceptional variety of lakes, waterfalls and running through the region is the river Allier. La Platriere is 4 kms from the nearest town which has two chateuaux, several shops, banks, supermarkets, pizzeria, restaurant and weekly market. We are also close to several medieval villages. 5 kms away are several large lakes, where you enjoy swimming, canoeing, kayaking, pedalo boats and sailing. Some of the lakes have beaches with waterslide for the children and crazy golf and tennis nearby. Several lakes are excellent for fishing, and fishing lessons can be arranged with Andy our host. The area is ideal for walking, cycling and horseriding, which is nearby in the next village, with prices starting from 8 euros an hour. The Troncais Forest is renowned for its oak plantation some oaks are over 300 years old, the forest and area is abound with wildlife, ranging from boar, deer, birds of prey and the rare hoopae bird which is a frequent spring visitor to the gardens at La Platriere.
As well as self-contained holidays in the cottage, we provide bed & breakfast accommodation in the main house, and for certain weeks of the year we offer residential workshops balanced with plenty of time to relax in nature. Evening meals are also available and consist of delicious home-cooked food using local produce.
