Le Vieux Mas is a 200 year old farmhouse which has been sympathetically modernised. There is plenty of space, with larger than average rooms throughout. The house has three bedrooms and can sleep from 2 to 8 people, but it is organised in such a way that couples on their own, families and groups of friends can all immediately feel comfortable and at home. It is furnished mainly with antique furniture, but there is also satellite TV, DVD and audio.
Eating is in the attractive kitchen/dining room or on a wisteria-shaded terrace with beautiful views over the surrounding hills - splendid for meals at any time of the day. The comfortable living room has exposed chestnut beams a wood-burning stove and a good library including many local guides. One bedroom is downstairs with a double bed and a single, en suite bathroom. Two further bedrooms and a bathroom are upstairs.
The house is in the Cévennes, a beautiful but relatively little known part of southern France. Lying west of Provence and north of the Mediterranean, it is a land of chestnut groves, clear streams, mountain ridges and valleys nestling between the Massif Central and the Mediterranean garrigues. Perfect for a rural holiday - but also trips to Pont du Gard, Avignon, Arles and the Camargue.
