Tucked away within the Park is the tiny traditional village of Decontra, its rustic buildings surrounded by meadows and mountains, and perched at the lip of a great gorge. If the purpose of your holiday is to explore somewhere new, to step back in time a little, to relax and unwind, to go for short strolls and long picnics with magnificent views, to enjoy friendly hospitality and the wonderful Italian food and wine of the region, or simply to get away from it all…you will receive a warm welcome at 31 Decontra, and return home feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

The beautifully restored cottage of 31 Decontra offers comfortable accommodation, simple furnishings, extensive gardens, a plunge pool and magnificent views. Relax in your own private sitting room with flagstone floors, open fireplace, vaulted ceilings, magnificent mountain views and comfortable sofas. Stone stairs lead to two charming bedrooms (one with double bed, and one with double/twin beds) and a bathroom. The bedrooms retain many of their original characteristics, with terracotta flooring and vaulted ceilings. They have wonderful open views to the mountains, and are furnished with simple rustic furniture and bespoke ironwork beds. The bathroom contains a full sized bath with shower overhead and is decorated with stone tiling. There is central heating throughout.

The nearby town of Caramanico Terme has shops, bars, restaurants, churches and spas! The Visitors Centre at Caramanico has a small museum and an otter-breeding centre, and can issue you with a permit to walk in the Orfento Gorge (highly recommended). They also hire out mountain bikes. You could also explore the nearby Botanic Garden at Sant’Eufemia, or the great Hermitage of Santo Spirito, a National Monument.
